Courses:
If you are interested in crafts and think it might be fun to learn about
tanning with old techniques, you are welcome to attend one of my courses.
For beginners, these courses provide an introduction to the basics of  traditional tanning with simple methods and tools. For  those with previous experience I can provide more tailored teaching.
I also conduct courses in skin seamstressing with traditional techniques. Courses can be given in Swedish and English.

Lectures about:
The early and modern history of tanning.
How the inuits prepare reindeer-and seal skin; the techniques are the same as the first dear hunters used in our country, Sweden, 12000 years ago.
Tanning of  Native Americans in Canada; They use predominantly an oil tanning method which probably is the oldest method known.
Tanning of the Samis in northern Scandinavia; Bark tanning, the method that´s been most important in Sweden until chromium tanning was introduced in the end of the nineteenth century.
Fisk skin tanning.

During my lectures I show slides and video films from my study trips in Canada, Alaska, Greenland, Sweden and Japan.
I also show samples of tanned skins, tools and other products.
Groups with up to 20 persons can be accommodated for demonstrations and lectures in the tannery.
I also travel frequently internationally to give lectures.
